My Great Strides Story
Courtney Sholander
Our son Colton completed our family of four on October 24th, 2019. Little did we know, it was the beginning of a lifelong battle against a genetic disease. On November 26th, 2019 (a day I remember vividly) our sweet baby boy was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects the mucous producing organs in the body. For Colton this means his lungs are constantly surrounded by mucous making him very susceptible to respiratory infections. It means his pancreas is insufficient therefore keeping him from absorbing vital nutrients to aid in his growth. It also means that there is a very good chance that Colton won’t be able to have a family of his own. While there is currently no cure for CF, with the power of prayer and science it can be found!
Colton and his big sister Raelynn are the light of our lives and we would give anything to find a cure for our son. We won’t give up until CF stands for CURE FOUND!!
