I'm participating in Atlanta's Peachtree Road 10K July 4th in memory of Andy Lipman and also in honor of all CF warriors who courageously fight cystic fibrosis every day with the hope that there will be a cure.

I'll be walking in this, my second 10K, (not running as Andy always did, for all 28 of his Peachtree’s!) But even walking it is outside my comfort zone! It is only Andy that could have inspired me to even attempt this last year! I did complete the 10K last year, surprising even myself! This year, I’ll again be drawing on my memories of Andy. And I will be thinking of the relentless daily regimen of breathing treatments and medications so many of the courageous CF warriors I have come to know & admire, must maintain simply to live.

Andy made, and will continue to make, a profound difference in so many ways - for the CF community and humanity as a whole - hero, warrior, mentor, inspirer, encourager, motivator, writer, coach, advocate, organ donor, devoted family man, and friend. He spread awareness of CF not only through his own personal CF journey, but in sharing the stories of so many fellow CF warriors from around the world, sharing in their triumphs and struggles in his CF Warrior Project books and in so many other ways. In this picture I’m with Andy and his mother Eva at one of his book interviews and signings 6 1/2 years ago. It was a happy day spreading awareness of cystic fibrosis.

CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.

Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.

Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?

By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward and Andy’s relentless wish – a cure for CF.
