My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Philadelphia Great Strides
Maria Clark
I'm Maria Clark, 22-year-old battling Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis also known as CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this life-threatening disease.
As a patient advocate, it is my mission to fight for ALL patients battling CF. It is my mission to help educate and inspiring many individuals through my advocacy work.
Patients constantly face challenging obstacles each and every day. This includes not having access to medication/treatments, high medical costs, access to care, inability to participate in clinical studies or receive life-saving medications due to rare genetic mutations, and the list goes on and on.
Because of YOU, patients like myself, can have access to the advanced treatments and care we NEED to live another day. YOU can help make a difference by helping spread awareness.
Thanks to the advancements in technology over the years, more patients have the ability to participate in clinical trials and research studies to help benefit not only patients today, but future generations to come!
We have hope for a long fulfilling life.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is so near and dear to my heart. I have hope that one day we will stand for CURE FOUND! I hope you will stand by me through my journey!
Thank you,
Maria
