My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Philadelphia Great Strides 2026
Rebecca Ellis
Hi, my name is Becky, and I am an adult living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
I was diagnosed at six months old, and I'm grateful for the medical advancements that have improved my health and made breathing easier. I deeply appreciate the prayers, love, support, and words of encouragement from my family and friends. I've been blessed with great doctors and a great CF team throughout my journey.
Cystic fibrosis is a genetic disease that affects vital organs, making it difficult to breathe and fight infections. Approximately 30,000 Americans live with CF, facing daily struggles.
While there is currently no cure and many people die young from this disease, I am walking to help change that. Significant progress has been made, especially with new therapies like Trikafta™, approved in 2019, which target the disease's underlying causes. Thanks to ongoing research, the life expectancy of children with CF has doubled in the last 30 years.
However, much work remains to ensure everyone with CF has access to a cure. Your support matters. By donating to my fundraising goal, you can help advance the research needed for this critical mission. Together, we can make CF stand for "Cure Found."
Please join our team at the Philadelphia Great Strides 2026 walk or donate today.
💛 -Becky
