My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Pittsburgh Great Strides 2026
Roxanne Lawniczak
My grandson, Greyson, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at birth—a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections and often leads to severe lung damage and respiratory failure.
Because of your donations and unwavering support, the outlook for children with CF has changed dramatically. Since the day Greyson was born, the average life expectancy for people living with cystic fibrosis has increased incredibly—and we are so deeply grateful. Greyson is now seven years old and truly living his best life. We are so fortunate that he is able to play just about every sport out there, laugh freely, and enjoy childhood in ways that were once unimaginable.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this disease differently. While incredible progress has been made, far too many are still facing a long and difficult road. There is currently no cure, and too many people with CF still die far too young.
That is why I walk—to help bring us closer to a cure, so every child and adult with CF has the chance to live a long, healthy life. We are beyond thankful and blessed for every single donation over the years. Thank you for fighting this fight every day—for Greyson and for every child living with cystic fibrosis. You are truly making an impact in so many lives.
Every dollar counts. Every donation adds up. And no gift is ever too small.makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections and often leads to severe lung damage and respiratory failure.
