William Lewton
As of April 1st, William has ridden: 2 miles
William is taking on the challenge to ride his bike 65 miles or more each month until October! We will be posting his miles on this page each month. See story below.
William had another great year in many ways. He played both baseball and soccer, and liked them both. He is also still learning the guitar and has started the banjo as well. William loves time playing with Cecilia, and she is a wonderful sister to him. He also loves his role as an older brother and has fun with Jonathan. William enjoys whittling and learning some higher level skills with tools. He is plugging along with school, which is not his favorite activity of the day since he thrives when he is active outside. He likes reading and has been enjoying many different kinds of chapter books. He reads during some of his treatments, and then plays with Jonathan during the other ones. He complains very little about doing these two treatments a day. He manages his own pills at every meal, and can swallow up to 10 at a time! He takes around 40 pills a day and does his two treatments all by himself. William still has some digestive issues, which is just part of having CF. His energy level can vary, but rarely has a problem playing. Exercise is extremely important for people with CF, and we are grateful that William likes to be so active! We all were pretty sick in February, and we are grateful to God that William did not get as sick as others. His lung function is still fantastic and overall he is doing well. William faces various battles each day due to CF, but he handles them well with little complaint.
William is as curious as ever and craves independence, which can be a good thing and not so good depending on the situation. He is quite inventive, but needs to learn some more facts before just doing things such as making up his own ways to sanitize items or playing around with electricity. William has a fun sense of humor and brings so much joy to us. He gives the warmest hugs, and we are so grateful that God gave him to us.
This year we are making some physical goals and helping William to achieve his!
William: For the past two years William has ridden in the Tour de Dirt Fun Ride, which is a 13 mile charity bike ride. This year William will take it to the next level, the Lite Ride, which is 30-40 miles. This will occur on October 25, 2025, so he has over half a year to train and meet this challenge. By training and pushing himself when it gets tough, he will not only be training his body, but also strengthening his mind and heart.
William’s Fundraising Goal: Starting April 1st, William will ride 65 miles or more each month until the Tour de Dirt ride in October. Dan, Colleen, and Cecilia will be helping him to reach this monthly goal. Every month we will post how many miles he rode for that month so you can see his progress, and support and encourage him along the way too!
Dan and Cecilia: Dan and Cecilia will be riding alongside William. They will both help him train and ride with him on October 25th. Together they will persevere and encourage one another to succeed.
Colleen: Colleen will be partaking in the Xtreme Hike, which is a fundraiser for the CF Foundation, and will be hiking 13.1 miles, which she has never done before. The Xtreme Hike happens to land on her 42nd birthday, and she thought there was nothing she would rather do on that day than support her son while being in God’s creation, but more than that, showing her son that she can do something hard and accomplish a challenging goal.
We are excited and determined to work together as a family and achieve these goals!
We can’t take William’s burdens from him, but we can give him support with each step of the way, and make goals that we can achieve together. These goals feel rigorous and demanding to all of us, and that’s what makes them so valuable. If it isn’t hard, it won’t make as much of an impact or feel as rewarding once we achieve them. We must replace fear and apprehension with perseverance and determination so that we can achieve our goals. We are going to learn by experience to feel discomfort and pain and use it, instead of let it stop us.
Who will join our challenge? Who wants to make a goal with us? It is the strong support network of people around you that helps when the challenge gets difficult. It’s a team that gives you encouragement when you want to quit. If you are interested, William would be thrilled to add you to this site and let people know your goal and how you are achieving it for our fundraising efforts! The definition of teamwork is working collaboratively with a group of people to achieve a specific goal, so please join Team Will-da-Beast and let’s work together to support William!
Thank you for your ongoing love and support for William and all of us!
With Gratitude,
William, Dan, Colleen, Cecilia, and Jonathan
