I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system. From the moment I took my first breath, my life was different. Twice-daily treatments, a handful of pills with every meal, hospital stays, blood tests, and doctor’s visits—it was all routine. I never knew life without it.
As a kid, you don’t understand the gravity of it. It wasn’t until I got older that I realized how serious it was. For most of my childhood, I believed I wouldn’t live past 40. It was terrifying to grow up with a clock ticking in the back of my mind. I pushed those thoughts down, pretending they didn’t exist.
Then in 2019, something changed. Thanks to the CF Foundation and CF research, I was given access to a potentially life-saving medication—a breakthrough that could give me more years, more memories, more life. For the first time, I started to believe in a future beyond what I had once accepted.
But the reality is, CF is far from over. While treatments have come a long way, too many still struggle with the daily toll of this disease. Everyone with CF faces their own challenges, and many continue to struggle with limited access to the care and treatments that could improve their lives. We need continued progress—better treatments, more breakthroughs, and ultimately, a way to end this disease for good.
That brings me to today.
I’m training to become the youngest person with CF to complete a full-distance Ironman: 140.6 miles of swimming, biking, and running. It’s brutal. It’s terrifying. And the hardest part isn’t the race itself—it’s being open, vulnerable, and talking about something I’ve spent my life trying to downplay.
CF is an invisible disease. When I’m active and healthy, no one sees the behind-the-scenes struggle. But the reality is, it gets worse with age. Right now, I have the opportunity to push myself further than I ever have. This journey isn’t about proving anything—it’s about embracing the progress I’ve made and seeing how far I can go.
By supporting this cause, you’re not just helping me reach a personal goal—you’re helping push CF research forward and giving hope to thousands who fight this battle every day. Together, we can work toward a future where everyone with CF has the chance to live long, healthy, and limitless lives.
I’ll be sharing my journey on my CF fundraising page and documenting my training on YouTube to raise awareness. This isn’t just about crossing a finish line. It’s about showing that no diagnosis, no statistic, no limitation should ever dictate what we’re capable of.
Because we are capable of more than we think. 🌹
