We invite you to take part in Great Strides by joining our team. We promise, you belong here! This event promises to be a fun-filled day where you can help advance the care and research needed to cure cystic fibrosis. By walking with us, you'll enjoy not only the natural camaraderie (yes, lots of laughter!), but the important impact we are making together.

We are happy to say that Karsyn's health has continued to flourish since last year's walk. She has not been hospitalized in over 2 1/2 years!!! Though she is doing well, she remains vigilant with her twice a day chest therapies and taking dozens of pills daily. Karsyn joined her school this year with a trip to Europe, to experience the "World War II Tour." As many of you may know, Karsyn is a absolute History junkie. She loves to learn and absorb all that is History....so she was on cloud nine all year looking forward to this trip. Though she tried her best to enjoy every moment, she picked up a very bad cold on day 3 of her 10 day trip. The infection moved into her lungs, and the moment she got home she was on 2 antibiotics (a 3rd started a week later, due to another pseudomonas infection) and doing treatments 4 times a day. Her lung function dropped a ton, but she managed to dodge a hospital stay - Thanks be to God!

Once again, she has had a very busy year!! She has been working extremely hard with keeping up with her AP classes and doing her absolute best. Though AP Calculus has been a struggle that she did not anticipate, she is fighting her way through, and is determined to finish the school year strong! She continues to flourish in
school and with the National Honor's Society and flaunts a 4.7 GPA! Additionally, she decided to take a step back from drama this year, however, in the end, joined as part of the stage crew for this year's performance of Fiddler on the Roof. Outside of school she loves to DRIVE EVERYWHERE, hang out with her boyfriend Aiden and work a ton of hours at In 'N Out Burger. She absolutely loves her job and the work force! Over the summer she intends to look into starting up classes at the local community college and possibly intern at the Salk Institute. She is truly an amazing gift from God and is determined to do ALL THE THINGS! We continue to pray that she remains healthy to do all the things...all the time!!!

While the CF Foundation has made incredible progress, not everyone with CF can benefit from existing therapies and we still need a cure. This will require time, funding, and persistence – but with you on our team – we are ready to go the distance.

Our team is committed to providing every person with CF the opportunity to live a long, healthy life. Will you join us?

We love you all so much for your continued support! We can't wait to see you there!

XOXO,

Karena Berent and Karsyn Richer
