As Respiratory Therapists, breath is at the very center of everything we do. But for the cystic fibrosis community, it represents so much more-it represents resilience, courage, and a daily fight.
Over the years, caring for our patients with CF at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital has profoundly shaped us. They have touched our hearts so deeply that they have truly become like members of our own families. We know their struggles, we celebrate their milestones, and we stand by their side through every hurdle.
For our department, this cause is also deeply personal, carrying the memories of precious loved ones we have lost to this disease. Our connection to CF reaches far beyond the hospital walls-it touches our lives, our families, and our souls.
Today, thanks to groundbreaking scientific advancements and emerging therapies like Trikafta, there is a profound new wave of hope for the CF community-changing what living with cystic fibrosis looks like. But our work is not done until everyone can breathe easy, and research can cross the ultimate finish line.
We walk for the patients who have left permanent marks on our hearts, and we walk for a future where cystic fibrosis stands for cure, not chronic. 🤍
