My Great Strides Story

Fundraising for Seattle Great Strides
Kristin Doherty
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and even with the life changing medications available, too many people with CF die young. I’m walking to help change that reality and to help give Lily a long healthier life.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs over time. Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. It isn't easy and at times it feels overwhelming. Lily has been hospitalized three times due to her CF and our lives revolve around medications and treatments. But Lily, through hard work, pushes through the 16-20 enzymes throughout the day, some pretty nasty medication, Trikafta, and 30 minutes of airway clearance with a nebulizer every day. With her medications, hard work, and the amazing care team at Seattle Children's, Lily is able to live a life full of activities, school, friends, and adventures. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
