Drew—my grandson—will turn 3 years old on May 17.He is a joyful, energetic little boy full of curiosity, laughter, and just the right amount of mischief.

When we first learned he would be born with Cystic Fibrosis, we were devastated and deeply concerned about his health and quality of life. But through lots of answered prayers and the incredible medical advances—made possible by generous donors—Drew has been able to live a happy, active, and healthy life so far.

Still, cystic fibrosis is a serious, life-shortening genetic disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. While progress has been made, there is still no cure—and too many people with CF do not get the chance to live a long, healthy life.

Every person with CF faces a unique journey. For Drew and so many others, we walk with hope—but also with urgency.

That’s why I am participating in the Great Strides Walk.
