My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Tampa Bay Great Strides 2026
Kailyn Coler
Ronan decided to take a year off from the walk, but he is so excited to be back! As most of you know, we learned of Ronan's CF diagnosis at his two-week appointment. There are no words to describe the fear that consumed us while we researched the disease and tried to understand what this would mean for his future.
Over the past 7+ years, we have learned how to navigate life with CF as a family, and Ronan handles every treatment and takes every medication like an absolute champ. To say we are proud of him is the biggest understatement.
From the outside, Ronan looks like any other kid. He plays baseball and football with his best buds, thrives in school, and doesn’t let anything hold him back. Behind the scenes, he’s doing frequent breathing treatments, swallowing countless pills, undergoing ultrasounds, CT scans, and blood draws to make sure his health stays on track.
Through it all, he does everything with incredible strength and bravery, and rarely complains. We have been very fortunate that he hasn’t experienced any major exacerbations or complications, and we will continue doing everything we can to keep it that way.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
