Our family proudly supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and in just a few weeks, we will be participating in the Great Strides Walk to raise funds and awareness for patients and their families impacted by CF.

Many of you know that our family has been involved with CF for 20 years in support of Hailey’s good friend Allison Nichting. Allison was diagnosed with CF in 2001 and we were part of her care journey along the way. She is now 25 and continues to love her job at Duke University Medical Center (where she received treatment) as a Pediatric nurse! She has successfully managed working 3- day, 12- hour shifts (alternating day and night shifts) as well as her health and CF regimen.

Since starting Trikafta (elexacaftor/ivacaftor/tezacaftor), a triple combination therapy available to treat patients who have at least one F508del mutation, which is estimated to represent 90% of the CF population in September 2019, Allison has been very healthy.  No hospitalizations since July 2019! Trikafta really has been a game changer for Allison and so many others fighting Cystic Fibrosis.

It has been a challenging and incredible journey since diagnosis March 1, 2001, learning and seeing very encouraging advances over the last 25years. With continued support, we are confident research will progress at a similar pace and the rarest CF gene mutations will be addressed, including Allison's.

Our family will be participating in the Triangle Great Strides Walk, on Saturday, May 16th. We would greatly appreciate your support in our personal goal to raise $2,500 since this year Ally is 25! Please consider donating to The “A” Team – we are so grateful!
