Maureen Erwin

Deirdre was born with cystic fibrosis (CF) – a life-threatening genetic disease that makes the body produce thick, sticky mucus that clogs the lungs and leads to respiratory infections and other problems. For 24 years, she has been swallowing 25 pills daily which also includes multiple inhalers / nebulizers and a vibrating vest that performs chest physiotherapy freeing her lungs of the mucus that builds up.

Deirdre graduated from Providence College in 2023 with high honors and a double major in Biology & Healthcare. She is now working in Boston as a Data Associate on a breast cancer trial, pursuing her dreams of working in clinical trials.

CF has not stopped Deirdre from living life to the fullest as she was able to study abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark thanks to Vertex Pharmaceutical's, Trikafta. This past year has not been the easiest for Deirdre with two hospitalizations but she continues to kick CF's butt.

Deirdre’s Team will be participating for the 23rd time in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Great Strides Walk on May 10th. Please consider donating as any amount is closer towards finding a cure.

Thank you,
Peter, Maureen, Leah, Tess & Deirdre
