Friends, September is a BIG month in our family. It’s my BIRTHDAY month. It’s EVA’S birthday month. AND, it is Great Strides month. Great Strides is an important walk to raise funds for research for Cystic Fibrosis. Eva, our granddaughter, lives with CF. CF is a genetic disease that impacts many systems of her body. The greatest impact is on her lungs. She develops thick, sticky mucous coating the lining of the air sacs in each lung. This mucous is a great place for bacteria to develop and slowly destroy lung tissue, reducing lung function greatly over time. The mucous that develops in her pancreas blocks digestive enzymes from getting to her food and therefore reduces absorption. Research to date has helped develop medications and treatments that make it easier for her to breathe and helps her digest and absorb nutrients from her food, BUT…. There is NO CURE!!! That is why I am asking YOU to contribute to EVA’S ALLIANCE, our CF Great Strides team to raise money for CF research.
