Three years ago I had no idea what Cystic Fibrosis was, now it is something I think about everyday. CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
I will never forget how afraid I was when Grayson pediatrician called to let us know that he tested positive for Cystic Fibrosis on his newborn screener. It did not seem real. Within a week we were meeting his team of doctors learning about all the do's and don'ts of CF. I left our first appointment with an abundance of information about this disease and a team that could answer all my questions. This disease is still scary, but I'm so hopeful for my CF Warriors future because of the medical advancements the foundation had made. The goal is to find a cure so every person with this disease has the chance to live a long healthy life.
