Declan Sheehan
Cystic Fibrosis has been part of my family’s story for as long as I can remember. My Aunt was diagnosed as an infant in 1969, and her childhood, teenage years, and adulthood were marked by doctor visits, hospital stays, and the daily challenges of a disease that makes even simple tasks difficult. Still, she never let it break her spirit.
Years later, she went through a double-lung transplant procedure and what felt like the longest night of our lives, she emerged with a smile. My Aunt is the definition of determination and perseverance. She’s our reminder that your "why" can carry you farther than fear ever could.
I ran the Boston Marathon for her, and now I’m taking on the Berlin Marathon to keep pushing forward in her honor. I’m running to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, to raise awareness and best support families like ours.
