My Breathe Team Story
Fundraising for BMW Berlin Marathon 2026
Olivia Nyland
Hi everyone! This September, I’ll be running the Berlin Marathon as part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Breathe Team and this race means more to me than any finish time ever could.
I’m a pediatric nurse at Mass General for Children, where I have the privilege of caring for children with cystic fibrosis and their families. Every shift I see firsthand the strength, resilience, and determination these kids show in the face of a lifelong disease. CF isn’t something I only encounter at work, it’s also deeply personal. My sister-in-law, Julia, lives with cystic fibrosis which makes this cause incredibly close to my heart. Her lifelong fight has motivated me to run for such an important cause to find a cure.
Running the Berlin Marathon is one of the ways I can honor my patients, my family, and the CF community. I’ve completed 3 of the 6 World Marathon Majors and Berlin will be especially meaningful as I chase my 4th Abbott World Marathon Major star with every mile fueled by the hope of a future where CF no longer limits lives.
Funds raised through the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation directly support life-saving research, improved treatments and the continued fight for a cure. Thanks to advances driven by this foundation people with CF are living longer, fuller lives but the work is not done.
Thank you for supporting me, the Breathe Team, and everyone affected by cystic fibrosis. Every donation, share, and word of encouragement helps move us closer to a cure. 💙🏃♀️
