My Great Strides Story
Barry Master
Fundraising for Blue Ridge Great Strides 2026
Barry Master
This is the 28th consecutive year I've fundraised for Colin and 40,000+ CF fighters as a Charter/Lifetime Member of Team Hopefulones.
CF is a genetic disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs and makes it difficult to breathe, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
When I was growing up, CF diagnosis meant a death sentence before reaching elementary school age. CFF was organized and began their work. When Colin was diagnosed, the doctor's comment to his parents was Colin would be lucky to live to high school. His parents, after much despair, took a leap of faith to name our team "Hopefulones".
After over a quarter century of fundraising, the median age for CF diagnosis is now over 65 years. Drug research and therapy improvements and the efficiency of CFF staff have made for dramatic improvement.
While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF. Thank you so very much for your consideration of helping us with a gift in any amount to be that much closer to a cure.
