My Great Strides Story
John Fenner
Fundraising for Blue Ridge Great Strides 2026
John Fenner
Dear Friends and Family,
Thank you for being a part of Team Hopefulones over the years. Your continued support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation has made a meaningful difference in Colin’s life and the lives of so many others living with Cystic Fibrosis. We are grateful, and we hope you will you join us again as we begin our 28th year of fundraising.
Colin continues to thrive in Salt Lake City. At a recent visit to the University of Utah Cystic Fibrosis Center, his lung function was over 100% of what would be expected for someone without CF – an incredible milestone! Trikafta, a breakthrough therapy developed with the support of the CF Foundation, is clearly having a profound impact.
Even with this progress, important challenges remain, including managing infections, ensuring access to quality health care, and addressing the high cost of treatment.
He and Rachel continue to be active year-round, enjoying cycling, hiking, rock climbing, and skiing/snowboarding. The photo below shows them outside their new home at the end of March.
The CF Foundation remains committed to advancing a cure while developing new treatments to improve quality of life. Some of the most promising research includes gene therapy, gene editing, and messenger RNA (mRNA) therapies—approaches that offer real hope for treating and ultimately curing CF. To learn more about the Foundation’s current research and development efforts, you can may visit their website at: https://apps.cff.org/trials/pipeline/.
Would you consider supporting our efforts again this year? You can give securely by clicking the blue DONATE button on this page.
Thank you for keeping us HOPEFULONES! In love and gratitude,
John, Claire, Colin Fenner and Rachel Allen
