Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
30 years ago the life expectancy for those with CF was maybe in to their 20s. Now those born with CF have a life expectancy well in to their 60s! So it just goes to show how much of an impact the research and fund raising has done to help those with CF live longer, healthier lives!
As for our connection with CF Elliotte-or Chickie- was born with CF. She is almost 3.5 years old and what a journey she has had so far! None of it would not be possible without the love and support from our amazing family and friends, as well as her team over at CHOP-so a huge thank you to all of you! Your support means more than you know!
Ellie was admitted to the hospital at 5 months old with a CF exacerbation for 2 weeks, where she was on a ventilator for 4 days in the NICU for part of that stay. Since then, Ellie has been making AMAZING strides in her journey- Ellie is fortunate enough to qualify for gene modulator medication which has had everything that goes in to taking care of CF on a daily basis more manageable.
Despite all of this, Ellie is beautiful and stronger than anyone. Her tenacity is truly inspiring.
As for our team- Chickie's Climbers- this is our third year at the climb- we are here to represent more than supporting Ellie. We're here for those who fight this fight day in and day out, and for all of those families who are right there with them. Until it's done. Until CF stands for CURE FOUND! LFG!
