My Breathe Team Story

Danny Areces

Over the past few years, I have completed a couple of marathons, but having the opportunity to race while raising money for charity—especially for a cause as meaningful as Cystic Fibrosis (CF)—is something truly special. I had the honor of coaching and coaching with Danny Quesada, lovingly known as "Coach DQ," at Christopher Columbus High School. Danny was diagnosed with CF, and being by his side throughout his journey gave me my "why" for running.

Knowing DQ and his family has profoundly impacted me, teaching me to appreciate each day more deeply. As I’ve trained and competed over the past few years, my motivation, gratitude, and sense of purpose have reached new heights. Running has become a way for me to express thanks for the opportunities in my life—past, present, and future.

Fundraising for CF is my way of honoring DQ and everything he did for me and those around him. This race allows me to pay tribute to his legacy and support everyone still battling CF. I know DQ will be looking down cheering me on through the finish line.

Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?

By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
