My Great Strides story started when my niece Betsy was about a year and a half old. She was sick one weekend, and it wasn't immediately obvious why. This sickness led to her being diagnosed with cystic fibrosis.
While my niece was growing up, she had frequent and lengthy hospitalizations. You can imagine the toll this took on her parents, sisters, and us. This continued until the development of Trikafta, which was a game-changer for her. It's helped her immensely and we are grateful.
Nevertheless, CF is a serious disease, and one for which my family and I really hope there will be a cure someday. I have supported many Great Strides walks and walked in some. I'm ready to walk in this year's event in honor of Betsy and in support of the important work of the CFF.
