Brett's Crew for a Cure
In what is now one of our most special days of the year, we're excited to again create a team of friends and family to walk with Great Strides for the fourth time this May 10!
This past year we watched Brett be healthy! With a full year of Trikafta - a modulator medication - in her, our girl has been fighting the onset of illness like a superhero! Whereas in years past, a respiratory illness required Brett to start a cycle of nebulizers and inhalers and antibiotics, we've watched this incredible drug stop sickness in real time and require so much less extra measures to keep B healthy. We're so grateful to also feel like it's a proactive approach to keeping her lungs and body healthy for longer!
Because of her CF, this year Brett fell in love with two things: Bluey, to accompany her during "shaky vest" time, and Gatorade, to help wash down her medicine. When taking a med became a struggle, Brett became "magic" and performed a disappearing act for anyone that was around to watch. We're grateful for the support of friends and family to cheer her on when times are tough.
As our daughter gets older, we have no doubt her fiery nature will serve her well as she overcomes obstacles and tackles challenges throughout her journey with CF. We continue to be amazed by B's perseverance at such a young age, and continually strive to match it.
And while we never would've wished this for our daughter, we're so grateful for the perspective and positivity it has brought to our family, which is why we're excited to have a celebratory day at the Great Strides walk with our family and friends!
