Hi Friends and Family!
As most of you know, our sweet Gabby was born in 2020 with Cystic Fibrosis. While overjoyed with a new addition to our family, we were blindsided by the diagnoses.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure. It can make something as small as the common cold, life threatening.
Shortly after being born, Gabby was rushed into emergency surgery to remove a bowl obstruction. After 19 days in the ICU/hospital, we were finally headed home to meet the rest of family.
Fast forward two years, we are getting into our new routine, learning the CF life… and we were completely blindsided again. Gabby had been fighting a little cold/cough. She seemed very tired and was having trouble sitting up straight. It was bizarre behavior and thank God we brought her straight into the ER. Within an hour her lung collapsed and she was code blue with respiratory failure. At just 2.5 years old, we almost lost her. 😔 It was the most terrifying moment we’ve ever experienced as a family. Without the grace of God and the crowd of nurses and doctors that ran to her rescue, I’m not sure she would be here today. 😭 She spent 8 days on the highest form of life support. We lived at her bedside praying 24/7. She then slowly began to recovery so beautifully that she surprised all of the doctors. 💜 ✨ She is a miracle.
We are walking for our Gabby and all of those affected by CF. 💜 There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. We are walking to help change that reality.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
