On December 5th 2025 our 1 month old baby, Juniper, was admitted to the hospital for failure to thrive. She hadn’t gotten back up to birth weight, and her skin was still yellow and jaundiced. 3 days later during our admission we learned that she has cystic fibrosis.
Cystic fibrosis is often associated with lungs, however the disease is named after the cyst and fibroid covered pancreases that scientists discovered when autopsying babies in the 30s. Juniper’s pancreas is unable to secrete the enzymes she needs to digest food so she relies on medication before every meal to do it for her.
Everything we know about CF and every medication available to extend the lives of those affected, can be attributed to the CF foundation for funding research on this rare disease.
