My Great Strides Story

Drew Strube

This is my son, Major. He was born in 2014 with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). CF is a genetic disease primarily affecting the lungs and digestive system. As a result of CF, the mucus in Major's body is thick and sticky like molasses as opposed to the slippery mucus of a person without CF. Because of this mucus, his body has a higher likelihood to get bacteria and viruses stuck in his lungs that can become infected and cause damage.

Over his life, Major has had multiple hospital stays, blood draws, and IV antibiotics to get and keep him healthy. Despite those instances, Major has lead a very vibrant and healthy life. He takes medications to help manage his symptoms and one medication that allows his body to operate, temporarily, as though it does not have CF. But there is no cure for CF. There are many people with CF that don't even have a "miracle" pill like Major. This is why I walk and why we fundraise - to find a cure for CF. Please consider donating and walking with us to help find a cure that will allow us to rid the world of Cystic Fibrosis and allow ALL those with CF to live long, healthy lives like Major!
