There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis, and far too many people with CF die young. I’m running to help change that reality.

Almost 14 years ago, we lost someone who was incredibly important to all of us, Ben Reid. Ben was diagnosed with CF, but it never stopped him from being a normal, energetic kid. From the outside looking in, you’d never have guessed he was affected by the disease and he never allowed his illness to hinder his social life.

Tragically, Ben passed away in an accident unrelated to CF. His loss affected so many people in different ways. For me, losing someone so vibrant and loveable taught me a lesson I’ve tried my hardest to live by: friendship is a blessing, and how you treat the loved ones in your life matters, because you never truly know how long you’ll have with them.

For those with CF, life is often short. To know there are people like Ben out there — full of life but living with the knowledge that their time with friends, family and loved ones may be limited isn’t right.

On what will be very close to the 14th anniversary of his passing, I’ll be running the Dublin Marathon to help fund research and move us closer to a cure.

Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?

By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
