My Great Strides Story

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disorder that affects many vital organs, primarily the lungs, pancreas, and digestive system. As many of you already know, my daughter, Audrina, has CF, and had to undergo several surgeries within the 1st year of her life. She recently celebrated her 2nd birthday, and is currently thriving! However, she will always require medications, therapies, and regular specialist visits in order to keep her healthy. Additionally, people with CF are immunocompromised, so we are always just one intense viral infection away from a hospital visit. While we are so grateful that Audrina has been doing well lately, we also know that her health status could change at any time.
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds essential, lifechanging research for CF treatments, and the medicines that have become available in recent years have added decades to the lifespan of those living with CF. In the early 1990's, the life expectancy for someone born with CF was just 30 years old. Today, the life expectancy has increased to 65 years, and is growing as new treatments are discovered every day. This gives us a tremendous amount of optimism for Audrina's future, but this hope is only possible through continued research and funding for the CF Foundation. This is why this cause will forever be so important to us, and why we aim to raise as much money as we can. We thank you for your consideration to donate to this amazing cause, and we hope that you'll join us at the CF walk this April.
