Dear Family, Friends and CF supporters,
Team Isabelle is making one last appearance at the Cystic Fibrosis Xtreme Hike, and I’m honored to join my friends Mark and Dana Trokey in support of their daughter, Isabelle.
When Isabelle was born 27 years ago, the life expectancy for a child with CF was just 32 years. Today, thanks to the relentless efforts of parents, families, friends, and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, it has risen to 52. Groundbreaking medications have improved both length and quality of life, but there is still no cure.
I’m hiking with Team Isabelle to help change that—to make “CF” stand for Cure Found. This year marks the 13th Xtreme Hike in the Gateway Chapter, where we’ll take on 30.1 miles of the Ozark Trail in a single day. Yes, it’s grueling—but nothing compared to the daily challenges a child with CF faces battling a pulmonary illness.
My family has been deeply involved with the Xtreme Hike over the years. Jennifer, Bailey, Jack, and I have hiked more than once. David has been a sweep-hiker alongside me, and Katie, while working for the CF Foundation, served as event coordinator. This cause is personal, and we’ve all laced up our boots for it.
This year, I’ve set a goal to raise $2,500 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Every dollar helps fund critical research, accelerate the search for a cure, and bring hope to families like Isabelle’s.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
