It is crazy to realize that 2025 marks our 13th year being part of Xtreme Hike for Cystic Fibrosis and wow, how our lives have changed since that first year!
As we think back to that inaugural hike and the state of Isabelle's health at that time, we are overwhelmed with gratitude… gratitude for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation leading the way in developing new and better treatments and most certainly, gratitude for everyone who continues to support our cause so generously!
In 2013, Isabelle was repeatedly hospitalized and took high levels of steroids in an effort to manage her allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis caused by her CF. In 2014, she was again repeatedly hospitalized and at one time was placed on a ventilator for acute respiratory failure. In the fall of 2015, she began taking a new drug combination to treat the underlying genetic defect and it was literally life changing and saving. Those gene modifying drugs have continued to evolve and improve and she has benefitted with each new drug that comes to market.
These life changing drugs were made possible only through fundraising and why we have been so passionate. After witnessing firsthand the changes in Isabelle's life, we believe that the CF Foundation will cure CF and make CF stand for Cure Found.
We have been blessed beyond measure by the generous support of our friends and family, and especially the AXIA Consulting family! John, Ed, Paul and Greg have been instrumental in growing the Team Isabelle family with their unwavering support.
It is a point of pride that Team Isabelle has been the leading hike fundraising team for the past 12 years in the Gateway Chapter and the second highest national fundraising team for the last 5 years. That is 100% thanks to the amazingly dedicated Team Isabelle members! Joining Team Isabelle means that you are joining the best of the best humans--people willing to give of themselves with their time, physical endurance and philanthropy. It is an Xtreme commitment that pays Xtreme dividends to all involved!
