My Xtreme Hike Story
Fundraising for Grand Canyon Fall Xtreme Hike 2026
Deborah Fuchs
I hike in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to honor the memory of Jolene Nichols, who passed away from cystic fibrosis at just 10 years old, and to support her sister, Ceci, who is living with CF. Thanks to the incredible advances made possible through CF Foundation research, children like Ceci have hope for healthier, longer lives. Every dollar raised brings us closer to a future where no family has to lose a loved one to this disease.
I also hike because of the community it creates. Walking alongside others who have been touched by CF is a powerful reminder that we are stronger together. The Grand Canyon's beauty and challenge inspire me, and every step is a chance to carry hope, honor those we've lost, and help create a future free of cystic fibrosis.
