My Xtreme Hike Story
Fundraising for Grand Canyon Fall Xtreme Hike

This one’s personal. 💙
I’ve been part of Donovan’s family for a long time — I helped raise his dad, Benjamin, and now I have the honor of watching my best friend Heather's beautiful grandson, Donovan, grow up. And let me tell you, this little boy is a fighter.
Donovan was born with a life-threatening birth defect called gastroschisis. He spent 11 weeks in the NICU, endured 7 surgeries, and received 2 blood transfusions before he could finally go home. A few months later, his family was dealt another blow: Donovan was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. It makes it difficult to breathe and fight off infections, often leading to serious lung damage and respiratory failure. Every person with CF faces a unique and difficult journey — and while medical progress has been made, far too many people with CF still die young. There is currently no cure.
At just two years old, Donovan has already shown a spirit stronger than most. He takes on every challenge with courage and resilience. So, in his honor, I’m hiking 23+ miles across the Grand Canyon in one day to raise awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis research — because if Donovan can take on everything life’s thrown at him with a smile, I can certainly push my limits for him.
Will you help us end Cystic Fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you’ll help advance the research and science needed to bring us closer to a future where CF stands for Cure Found — giving Donovan, and everyone else living with this disease, the chance at a long, healthy life they so deserve.
Thank you so much for your support in helping me help Donovan.
💙 Lisa
