Team Alyssa has been a part of Great Strides for as long as I can remember, at least 30 years. It was named for our young daughter Alyssa who had CF. Her late dad Chuck and I did everything in our power to raise money to bring about Alyssa’s dream: that a cure for CF be found in her lifetime. Unfortunately, Alyssa passed away in 2020 at age 35, just 6 months before her dad. She was a spark of light in this world—creative, generous, smart and sassy. Everyone who met Alyssa loved her. We continue to walk for Team Alyssa every spring in her honor and to bring her dream to a final fruition. This dream kept her going and she truly believed in it. Her younger sister, Brooke, and I continued to work as hard as we can to make CF=Cure Found, in Alyssa and Chuck’s memories, and all the other CFers who are still waiting. Until it’s found.
