On May 17, 2026, I’ll be walking in the Great Strides event at Adams Ricci Park to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation — I’m walking for my granddaughter Malia.

She is 2 years old and was born with cystic fibrosis. At just days old, she spent 34 days in the pediatric ICU. It was a frightening and uncertain start to her life, but she proved early on just how strong she is.

Today, she’s a spunky, joyful, beautiful little girl who loves to play and absolutely idolizes her big sister. You would never guess the challenges she faces daily. Behind her bright smile is a routine filled with treatments, medications, and therapies that help keep her healthy.

Cystic fibrosis is a lifelong disease, but thanks to research funded by the CF Foundation, treatments continue to improve and lives continue to get longer and stronger. I’m raising money to help find better therapies and, one day, a cure — so that my granddaughter and all those living with CF can live full, healthy lives.
