There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. I am walking in the 2025 Cystic Fibrosis Great Strides Walk to help change the future for everyone living with CF, including my brother and my mother.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that affects the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes breathing difficult and fighting infections incredibly hard, often leading to severe lung damage and respiratory failure. CF also blocks the pancreas, preventing it from releasing enzymes needed to digest food properly, which can lead to malnutrition and digestive issues - even when someone is eating enough.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. I know this firsthand - my brother lives with cystic fibrosis.
While we've seen progress, there's still a long road ahead. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a chance to live a longer, healthier life.
