Great Strides Walk for CF
Fundraising for Houston Great Strides
Siby Moonnumakal
I am once again participating in my local Great Strides walk for Cystic Fibrosis (CF). As you know, I work with a great team at the CF Center at Texas Children's Hospital, where together we care nearly 400 children with CF.
Cystic fibrosis is a rare, genetic disease in which a defective gene causes a thick buildup of mucus in the lungs, pancreas, and other organs. The buildup of mucus can lead to extensive lung damage, respiratory failure, malnutrition, liver disease, and gastrointestinal issues, among other complications. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation continues to lead the way by accelerating new therapies and providing support to meet the needs of those with CF. While we have made extraordinary progress, there is still no cure, and we lose precious lives to CF every day.
This year, Shreya is joining me to walk side-by-side with countless strong CF patients, family members, and supporters to raise money for CF research. Our past efforts have helped develop numerous breakthroughs, including the life-altering genetic modulator therapies that have been a game-changer in the lives of nearly 90% of CF patients. Despite these successes, there is much more to be done to find a cure for everyone with CF. I need your help to meet my fundraising goal. By donating, you will help advance our mission for a cure for all. Any amount you can donate is greatly appreciated. Please consider joining us and helping make CF stand for Cure Found.
With heartfelt thanks,
Siby Moonnumakal
