There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis and too many people with CF die young. We are walking to help change that reality.
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Collins is in first grade this year and about to turn 7! She is excelling tremendously at school and is quite the social butterfly. We went on her Make a Wish Trip to Disney World in November and we were all blown away by how special and memorable that trip was. Cannon and Collins talk about it almost weekly and ask when we can go back! Collins is still doing her gymnastics competitions and has moved up to level 2. She is regularly getting medals for 3rd and 4th place, which we are extremely proud of, but she says she wants the trophy. She is such a hard worker and motivated to do her best.
On the CF front, Collins has been doing really well with her health. She has been on Trikafta for almost 2 years now, which is the drug that is the closest thing to a cure for certain CF mutations. Since she has been taking that we have been fortunate to not have the hospital stays she had early on when she was younger. Collins continues to amaze us with her strength and infectious personality. We are so proud of her!
