Freinds & Family,
It has been a while since we have engaged in discussion regarding our efforts within the Cystic Fibrosis Community and of course, updating you on how Alex is doing with his life and career development as well.
Alex started taking the gene modulator, Trikafta® about 7 years ago and since he truly is building normalcy in his day and overall clinical status. It was about 18 months after he started this treatment that he stopped testing positive in culturing for the Nontuberculous mycobacteria(NTM) , the infection that had him on home IV treatments for 8 years. In addition, he started gaining weight, yes, beer did contribute to some extent as well as increasing the digestion of fats. His lung function prior to starting this medication required he initiate the lung transplant process which put him in a hard place mentally. Today, his lung function values have removed the need to establish a position for transplant, in fact, his PFT values have slightly increased. Alex has an amazing girlfriend, Nicole, who has brought him something in life I feel he really never imagined as she is his guidance to focus on his health, career, and anything to improve his overall quality of life. Alex has recently joined Robert Half, a national leader for career development and recruiting with travel to two NJ offices along with home remote workplace as well. The position has him in a sales function, where to no surprise, his personality flourishes (not sure where he got that trait from). The thought of Alex having a fulltime job with an industry leading company, full benefits, living independent with an amazing girlfriend would never have been a thought a few years ago. This is him achieving normalcy in his day and life.
Our team, Alexs Athletes are walking to help CF stand for CURE FOUND . Can you help ?
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance of living a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
