My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Lexington/Winchester Great Strides 2026
Alexis Vargas
Cystic Fibrosis is something I've lived with my entire life. I was diagnosed at the age of five, with my sister being diagnosed at birth. CF affects our day-to-day lives in many physical, emotional, and mental ways, but it has also shown me the importance of advocacy, research, and community support.
I've participated in Great Strides for 15 years and serve as an ambassador for the Kentucky/West Virginia CF Chapter. I also served as the national ambassador for the foundation in 2025. Sharing my story helps raise awareness about why continued research, better treatments, and access to medications are so important for people living with CF.
Supporting this cause means working toward a future where people with CF can live longer, healthier lives. Every conversation, donation, and step taken helps bring us closer to a cure.
