Josie was recently assigned to write an essay on a word and she chose resilience. I don't know what she wrote, but I've thought about what I'd write about resilience when describing her.  I could stretch it to the 2-page requirement, but it all boils down one paragraph.

Josie continues to be a picture of resilience. She has a toughness most people can't imagine.  She has a lot on her plate as do many of us. What sets Josie apart is the every day battles she finds herself in - school, basketball, friends, etc. When medical attention is required, it comes with its own challenges, to perform at her best it is difficult balancing act. She needs time to recover but she usually responds quickly and does what she needs to do. A couple of weeks ago, at her high school basketball banquest the coach when referring to Josie's tough defense, "There's always something wrong with her, but she's always ready on game day."  How many of us can say the same?

A new version of the drug Josie helped bring to the market is out awaiting insurance approval before she can start taking it.  Instead of having to take this particular drug twice a day it will allow her to take one dose to combat the effects of cystic fibrosis. Josie is eager to give it a try even though it requires additional testing once she starts taking it. She knows one less pill could make it easier on her so she's willing to give it a try.

Last year, the Dells Go Go Jo team didn't walk.  Josie decided against, it but she would like to bring the walk back this year.  If you are in the Dells, look for more information coming soon. If you are in Little Rock, we hope you step out in your purple for Go Go Jo on May 10th.

In honor of Josie's grandmother, our team continues work out of the Little Rock base for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Bev worked with the Little Rock branch and shared Josie's triumphs with everyone that knew her. Please consider making a donation in memory of Bev.  By donating to the team you're helping to research the next drug that Josie could benefit from and we want to make sure the medicine keeps up with the demands of dealing with CF on a daily basis.
