In 2013, I—along with many others—lost my incredible mother to cystic fibrosis. As with many who fight CF, my Mom was strong and resilient. She was also loving, funny, selfless and sincere. She is missed every day by many. Today, we walk for her, for others we’ve lost to CF, for those currently battling, and for future generations.  

CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Thanks to ongoing research and the development of new treatments, the life expectancy for individuals with cystic fibrosis has nearly doubled over the past 30 years. We have the support of advocates, donors, and researchers to thank for that progress. 

Still, every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey—experiencing this challenging disease in deeply personal and different ways. While we’ve made significant progress, there is still a long road ahead for far too many living with CF. 

We need a cure—so that every person with cystic fibrosis has the chance to live a long, full, and healthy life.
