My Great Strides Story of Brent, Kalli, and Forrest
Beverly Waters
Fundraising for Madison, CT Great Strides 2026
Beverly Waters
Dear Friends and Family,
This year’s Great Strides Walk to Cure Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is scheduled for Sunday, May 31st at the Madison Surf Club. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m.
As I mentioned last year, even though we are living in NC, the Connecticut Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will always be where my loyalties lie for the administration of our donations. They have worked tirelessly to support me and my family over the last three decades. Through their dedicated efforts, donations from you and me have been directly funneled into more effective medications and research to find a cure for this dreaded disease.
Thanks to the effects of this research, our nephew, Brent, has grown with CF to a thriving adult. He and his wife, Kalli, are now devoted parents to healthy, smart, and beautiful Forrest. We just learned that two-year-old Forrest will become a big brother in November! Brent and Kalli could not be happier about welcoming a second child. However, they never take Brent’s good health for granted. They work tirelessly to keep Brent on a healthy track so that CF does not keep him from enjoying the blessings of fatherhood.
The focus of my fundraising has been and continues to be for children suffering with Cystic Fibrosis. However, thanks to you and your faithful generosity, we have reached a new frontier of research and treatment now that people with the disease, like Brent, can live longer. In addition to severe lung and pancreas complications, older people with CF are likely to face liver disease, CF-related diabetes, bone impairment, and gastrointestinal cancers. At the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation-accredited care centers across the United States, new research, clinical trials, and improved medications provide hope and help to CF patients of all ages.
Over the last three decades of fundraising for Cystic Fibrosis, I am so very grateful that you have followed Brent’s progress—and Tiffany’s during her 15 years on this earth—and that you have supported my fundraising so generously. With your help, we are confident that one day, not one person will lose a loved one - child, sibling, parent, or friend - to cystic fibrosis.
To contribute here, please click the “Donate” box above.
To contribute by check, make it payable to: CFF, and send it to me at:
As always, from our family to yours, we thank you for your generous contributions, for your encouraging messages, and for your prayers!
Please stay well.
Love,
Bev
