I am a proud CF Aunt!
Fourteen years ago, my precious niece Sarah Grace was born with cystic fibrosis. The diagnosis came as a shock to our family and the battle she faces every day is real. But Sarah Grace is a brilliant fighter. Small and mighty at birth, SG has grown into a powerful and determined young woman who lives every day to the fullest and inspires me with all she accomplishes.
You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved ~ TobyMac
I’m a big fan of contemporary Christian singer/songwriter TobyMac and recently read these inspiring words on his Instagram page. These words perfectly embody the life of our sweet Sarah Grace as she valiantly battles cystic fibrosis every day. She has indeed been assigned a mountain which many days brings overwhelming trials and tribulations, but the strength, resilience and fortitude she shows is amazing. I’ve seen the highs and lows. I’ve watched her stand strong during illness and hospital stays, including her most recent one this past fall. I thought I understood what she endures daily, until she came to spend a few nights with me in Nashville. That trip was such a joy for me! But I was overcome the minute that I looked at her clipboard. Along with her medicines and nebulizer, Sarah Grace brought a checklist that brilliantly outlined the multitude of tasks she had to do each day to help her stay healthy and on task. It was formidable to say the least! Yet she navigated it beautifully. When life gets me down, I try to remember how truly lucky I am to have had a healthy, normal childhood and to be the aunt of this remarkable, inspiring young woman.
Though it’s easy to feel powerless to help, one thing I can do is raise awareness and funds for cystic fibrosis research!
I would be honored to have you join Team Sarah Grace and or make a donation for the 2025 Great Strides event! If you’re eager to be part of the fun and fellowship we enjoy at this annual event, please sign up and save the date now for the Memphis Great Strides Walk on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Shelby Farms. Please do officially register to join Team Sarah Grace to ensure you receive future correspondence about the day of festivities.
If you’re unable to attend the event but would like to make a donation to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Sarah Grace, I would be deeply grateful. I’m not someone who enjoys asking for money, but one look in Sarah Grace’s eyes is all it takes to remind me what I am supporting and who I’m fighting for. If you are unable to donate financially, I would be truly grateful and touched if you would keep Sarah Grace and her family in your prayers.
Thank you for your prayers, friendship, and donations, if possible! May you find little blessings in your life every day and be filled with joy and happiness throughout the year!
With gratitude,
Shelley
