35 years ago in April I was born into a world where my brother, who is 11 years older than me, essentially had an expiration date. He wasn't a stereotypical brother who thought I was annoying, or didn't want anything to do with me, he loved me unconditionally. In fact there might be more pictures of Rey with me as a child than there are of our parents. He nurtured me, loved me, and kept me safe throughout my entire childhood. He was who I looked up to, my rock, my hero, my own personal warrior. And every time he got sick the light inside my soul got a little less bright.
In May of 2025 my brother, Reynold, will turn 46 years old. It's a birthday that at certain parts of his life, we weren't certain he would ever see. Something that we absolutely do not take for granted. Ultimately though we want to stop counting his birthdays, we want him to have a world where he doesn't need to plan his life around treatments and clean outs and doctors appointments. As his family and the people who love him most, we want a cure. Because I need him, I need a world where he is always in it. So thank you for all of you who have continued supporting me in this quest for a cure every year, you have no idea how much it means to me, and our family. We love you all!
