My Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Mohawk Valley Great Strides
Kylie Hall
My family and I are walking on May 17th, 2025 in the Mohawk Valley Great Strides Event, which is part of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF). Part of their mission is to find a cure for Cystic Fibrosis (CF), and help people with CF to lead long fulfilling lives by funding drug and research development. They also provide care for people with CF through their nationwide network of care centers. The CFF also helps families get the tools and support they need such as medical, educational and financial resources.
A few facts from the CFF:
- They fund more innovative, groundbreaking CF research than any other organization in the world
- Nearly every drug currently available for CF was made possible through foundation support
-The life expectancy of someone with CF has DOUBLED in the last 30 years
- CF was once considered a childhood disease, but now approximately half of all people living with CF are over 18
- As of 2022 the CFF is funding more programs in drug development than ever before
CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Every person born with cystic fibrosis is on a unique journey and experiences this challenging disease differently. While progress has been made, a long road lies ahead for far too many people fighting this terrible disease. We need a cure so that everyone with CF has a better chance to live a long, healthy life.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward - a cure for everyone with CF.
