The adventure continues.
On April 24, 2027, the Z-Team returns to the Appalachian Trail for another 30.1 mile, one day Xtreme Hike in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
The Z is for Zoe, our friend Mark's 26-year-old daughter who fights CF and is thriving thanks to new medications that address the underlying cause of CF. Medications that would not be possible without the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
CF is a progressive, life-shortening genetic disease that damages the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. Every day, people with CF can face treatment burdens, serious infections, hospitalizations, and the uncertainty of what the future may hold.
When a child is born with cystic fibrosis today, their outlook is brighter than ever before. Thanks to decades of research funded by supporters like you, many people with CF are living longer, healthier lives than previous generations could have imagined.
But the job isn't finished.
While groundbreaking medications have transformed life for many, approximately 10% of people with cystic fibrosis do not benefit from these therapies because of their specific genetic mutations. For them, there are still no treatments that address the underlying cause of their disease.
These individuals and families are waiting for the same hope that has changed so many other lives.
