Edwin's Great Strides Story
Fundraising for Northern Nevada Great Strides 2026
Kelly Carlson
Edwin was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis through his newborn screening. By two weeks old, he was on medication and seeing his care team weekly. At three months, his liver began to fail due to CF complications. With much prayer—and the care of his wonderful doctors—his liver recovered by six months, and his growth journey began.
Edwin is now 3½ years old and kicking CF’s butt. His daily routine includes a fistful of medications, breathing treatments, and CPT therapy. He embraces the challenges CF throws at him and is living well—full of joy—and he’s my everyday hero.
There is currently no cure for cystic fibrosis. I’m walking to help change that reality.CF is a genetic, life-shortening disease that devastates the lungs, pancreas, and other vital organs. CF makes it difficult to breathe and fight life-threatening infections, often leading to extensive lung damage and respiratory failure.
Will you help us end cystic fibrosis?
By donating to my fundraising goal, you have the power to advance the research and science needed to drive our shared dream forward – a cure for everyone with CF.
