My CF Cycle for Life Story
Fundraising for Northern California Cycle for Life

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a devastating disease affecting people all over the world. Due to genetic variants in the CFTR gene, people with CF experience difficulties breathing, digestive problems, endocrine and reproductive health complications, and increased risk of cancer.
There is no cure for CF. Advances in early detection, clinical care, and new therapies has changed CF from a disease where very few made it to adulthood to now there being more adults than children living with CF. But, many are still dying early and suffering in their daily lives.
The digestive system (GI tract, liver, pancreas) is deeply affected in CF, causing much burden to the well being of those living with CF.
Fun fact…In the modern era of medicine, CF was first described as “cystic fibrosis of the pancreas.”
Many therapies are being developed to halt the progression of lung disease (Yay!), but there are few therapies that specifically target the digestive health of children and adults with CF.
We will be riding to raise awareness and funds to support all individuals with CF, but especially hope that those suffering every day from GI issues know there are people that see you and are fighting for you.
Thank you for your support!
