4 years ago we were blessed to welcome a beautiful, spunky and stubborn, loving wildling into our world.
She was diagnosed with CF shortly after her birth and we were all stunned and confused. This is a hereditary genetic defect but nobody that we knew of on either side of her family had it. Our little St. Patrick's Day baby just got the luck of the draw somehow.
We learned a lot very quickly and it was absolutely terrifying! The first year of her life was the scariest for us so far. She was too young and too small for many of the medications and treatments that have been developed for those with CF.
Medicine has come so far but still there is no cure. There is no remission either. Although she looks like any other 4 year old on the outside, on the inside her body wages war against her. Her life is filled with numerous daily prescriptions and lung treatments multiple times a day just to try to keep her from being hospitalized for weeks at a time.
We need a cure! SHE needs a cure!
"The difficult we will do immediately the impossible just takes a little bit longer"
This quote seems appropriate. We will endure the difficulty of daily treatments and not being able to do certain things to help keep her safe until that impossible day comes when there is finally a cure.
